The Group’s Board of Directors has approved the Financial Statement for 2006
SAME DEUTZ-FAHR ends the year with sales of over one billion

• Sales increased by 10% to 1.037 billion euros
• Net profits exceed 40 million euros
• The process of internationalization continues to develop and
  reinforce with the start-up of the new facility in China
• The participation in DEUTZ Ag is strengthened at 40,1%

(Treviglio) 2nd April 2007 - The Board of Directors of the SAME DEUTZ-FAHR (SDF) Group, one of the largest manufacturers of tractors, combine harvesters and diesel engines in the world, has approved its 2006 financial statements, which closed with sales of over one billion euros, up by 10% compared to 2005. The net profits of 40.2 million euros show an increase of 27% over the previous year and equal 4% of consolidated sales.

These net profits are particularly significant within this industry and confirm the positive trend started in 2001.

The result for the 2006 financial year is mainly the consequence of an increase in sales in Europe, thanks to the great success had by tractors over 100 HP and the renewed platform of tractors in the 90 - 120 HP category. This means that the Group has increased its share to 16.4% in an extremely competitive market.

A strong boost has also been recorded in the areas outside Europe. Thanks to the Overseas Projects in particular, the Group is strengthening its presence in new markets that are on the sharp increase like India, Russia and China.

The focus on product innovation is being reinforced thanks to the new Research and Development Centre at the Treviglio site, which has been in operation since 2006.

After the acquisition of a specific facility in Croatia in 2005, the Group’s activities in the combine harvester market have taken off again. This has allowed the Group to develop and offer a wider range of products that will give them a greater competitive edge in the traditional markets and the possibility of expansion, particularly in the CIS countries.

The Group’s investment in DEUTZ Ag ,a German company listed on the Frankfurt exchange and a leader in industrial diesel engines, was further strengthened with the public purchase offer last June. The Group now holds 40.1%, which confirms its position as main shareholder.

“In the year in which we are celebrating the 80th anniversary of our foundation,” said Chairman Vittorio Carozza, “the Group has achieved a new important record in terms of sales exceeding one billion euros. Nevertheless, the prospects of growing internationalization particularly in the emerging markets of India, Russia and China and the subject of Bio-Energy are the topics that will etch out the future development of the Group, which is taking up these challenges with determination.

In his statement, CEO Massimo Bordi said “For the fifth consecutive year, the Group has recorded improvements in its major economic indicators - in particular the net profits have reached 4% of sales. These figures are the result of constant, solid growth which confirms the success of our strategies”.

The SAME DEUTZ-FAHR Group is one of the leading manufacturers of tractors, engines, combine harvesters and farm machinery in the world. It manufactures and sells with the brand names SAME, Lamborghini, DEUTZ-FAHR and Hürlimann. The tractor ranges includes vehicles from 30 to 270 HP.  The Group has about 3000 employees.

SDF owns about 40% of the shares in DEUTZ AG, one of the main independent, international manufacturers of diesel and gas-powered engines. Deutz engines are used in the commercial vehicle and  farm machinery industries and also for  stationary applications.
